Membrane simulation analysis using Voronoi tessellation
The study of membranes and embedded proteins represents an advanced task in the field of molecular simulation. While nowadays a profound selection of sampling techniques, molecular topologies and theoretical approaches is available, the analysis of actual simulation data remains a difficult endeavour. For homogeneous lipid bilayer simulations, the calculation of the bilayer thickness or area pe...
متن کاملImage representation using Voronoi tessellation
The major approaches to image representation [l] in terms of its constituent regions may be divided into two broad categories: (1) those which specify the borders of the regions and (2) those which describe their interiors. Most of the approaches and the more interesting ones, belong to the latter category. This may be attributed to the increased dimensionality of information (regions, rather t...
متن کاملVoronoi diagram: An adaptive spatial tessellation for processes simulation
Modelling and simulation of spatial processes is increasingly used for a wide variety of applications including water resources protection and management, meteorological prevision and forest fire monitoring. As an example, an accurate spatial modelling of a hydrological system can assist hydrologists to answer questions such as: "where does ground water come from?", “how does it travel through ...
متن کاملCluster Identification via Voronoi Tessellation
We propose an automated method for detecting galaxy clusters in imaging surveys based on the Voronoi tessellation technique. It appears very promising, expecially for its capability of detecting clusters indipendently from their shape. After a brief explanation of our use of the algorithm, we show here an example of application based on a strip of the Edinburgh/Durham Southern Galaxy Catalogue ...
متن کاملCentroidal Voronoi Tessellation Based Proper Orthogonal Decomposition Analysis
Proper orthogonal decompositions (POD) have been used to systematically extract the most energetic modes while centroidal Voronoi tessellations (CVT) have been used to systematically extract best representatives. We combine the ideas of CVT and POD into a hybrid method for model reduction. The optimality of such an approach and various practical implementation strategies are discussed.
